About: Sometimes the skylight sash needs to be removed from the chain during inclement weather. This can be due to a loss of power. A 5/32” Allen wrench is needed, but skylights manufactured from 2010 – 2012 require a 2.5mm Allen wrench. Begin by inserting the Allen wrench into the center of the plastic cap on the bottom of the sash. Turn the wrench counterclockwise. Check to see if the sash is loose; continue spinning the wrench until it is. Lift the sash and lay the chain down. Finally, gently lower the sash down to the frame. Sometimes the wrench can be difficult to get into the bolt. The wrench can be used to remove the cap. Then use the wrench to disconnect the sash and chain. Be sure to replace the cap once the two are disconnected.
