Have you ever wondered how massive Off-the-Road (OTR) tires are recycled? OTR tires range from solid forklift tires to giant mining truck tires that are over three and a half meters tall! Historically, these massive tires were simply buried in the ground, but new legislation and global demand are driving the need for better recycling solutions.

In this video, we showcase the end-to-end OTR tire recycling system engineered by SSI Shredding Systems. The process includes:

Debeading: Pulling the dense steel bead wire out of the tire to reduce wear and tear on the shredding equipment.

Pre-sizing: Cutting tires down using specialized equipment to ensure cost and time efficiency.

Shredding: Using the Tri-Shear T160 three-shaft shredder to break the tires down into flowable six-inch chunks.

Grinding & Sorting: The Uni-Shear SR900 grinder reduces the material further, while magnetic sorting pulls the liberated wire out of the rubber.

Granulating: The Uni-Shear SR600F granulator creates a final crumb rubber product.
