You can record calls on Android using the Google Phone app by enabling call recording settings, starting a recording during a call, and managing saved recordings directly within the app, while following local consent laws.
Device and App Requirements
Pixel devices: Pixel 6 and later, running Android 14 or higher.
Non-Pixel devices: Must run Android 9 or higher.
Phone app version: Ensure you have the latest version of the Google Phone app installed.
Region support: Call recording is only available in countries and regions where it is legally supported
Enable Automatic Call Recording
For Unknown Numbers
Open the Phone app on your Android device.
Tap More options (three dots) → Settings → Call recording.
Under Always record, select Numbers not in your contacts.
Tap Always record to activate automatic recording for unknown numbers
For Selected Contacts
Open the Phone app → More options → Settings → Call recording.
Under Always record, select Selected numbers.
Tap Add, choose a contact, and turn on Always record.
Repeat for additional contacts if needed
Record a Call Manually
During an Active Call
Non-Pixel devices:
Make or receive a call in the Phone app.
Tap Record on the call screen to start recording.
Tap Stop recording to end the recording.
Pixel devices:
Open the Phone app and make/receive a call.
Tap Call Assist → Call Recording to start.
Tap Call Assist → Stop to end the recording
