Will sticking to a new year's resolution to read more books this year actually make you smarter or help you learn more? In this video we will find out what reading a book a week did for me this year and why I plan to read fewer books in 2020 and learn a lot more.

We live in the golden age of content. YouTubers are now among the most famous people in the world. There is now more written content produced daily than was produced in entire centuries in the past. So naturally, people today are a lot smarter than people of older generations, right? No. We don't read as much as we used to. A lot of people have stopped reading books altogether, so our natural conclusion is that people's attention spans are becoming shorter and no one can concentrate anymore. PewdiePie read 72 in one year, so this year I proved to myself that I could concentrate quite easily and read an entire book in one sitting. But that didn't make me smarter and reading does not prove that you are smart or can concentrate better than anyone else. It just proves that you can read.

Reading books in foreign languages proved more difficult than reading was when I was a child, even though it should have been much easier, and trying to read in Swedish and French also proved to me that I didn't have as much resolve and would give up easily on things even though I could read lots of books in English.
