How to Program Chamberlain Garage door opener keypad and remote (General Steps)
Safety Tip: Keep your garage door clear of obstructions while programming.
For Wireless Keypads:
Reset/Clear: If it’s an old keypad, reset it (usually by holding the Program + Up/Down buttons).
Activate Opener: Press and release the "Learn" button on your ceiling motor unit. (The light will usually glow steady for 30 seconds).
Enter Code: Within 30 seconds, enter your desired 4-digit PIN on the keypad.
Sync: Press and hold the Enter/Start button on the keypad until the garage door opener lights flash or the door moves.
For Remotes:
Press and release the "Learn" button on the ceiling motor unit.
Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote you want to program.
Release the button when the garage door opener lights flash or you hear two clicks.
4. Troubleshooting Common Issues
Keypad works in summer but not winter: This is a classic sign of a dying battery. Cold weather drains weak batteries faster. Swap in a fresh 9V or AA/AAA.
Range is terrible: LED light bulbs in the garage door opener can sometimes interfere with the radio signal. Try unscrewing the bulbs briefly to see if range improves. If it does, buy "garage door specific" LED bulbs that are shielded.
Forgot the PIN: You cannot "recover" a PIN. You must reset the device and reprogram it from scratch using the "Learn" button steps above.
