RULES:
The object of the game is to earn 3 points. The object of each round is to have the lowest hand value, which is the sum of all card numbers in your hand.
Shuffle the deck and deal 5 cards to each player, or 7 cards if playing with 2 players. Players look at their own cards but don’t show others. Place the remainder of the deck facedown in the middle as a draw pile. Flip over the top card of the draw pile face up next to it to start the discard pile. Whoever ate a pickle most recently goes first, then play proceeds clockwise.
On your turn, first draw 1 card from the top of the draw pile or discard pile. However, you may not pick up a special power card, those numbered 1, 2, 12, or 13, from the discard pile unless you immediately play it in a spread. Once you draw your card, you can then play any number of cards, or no cards, faceup in front of you as new spreads or extending any player’s existing spread. A spread is either a set, which is three or more cards of the same number, or a run, which is three or more cards in consecutive order of the same suit. Numbers 1 and 13 do not connect. The suits are: Cheese, Pickle, Donut, and Pineapple.
After playing cards, if any, you end your turn by discarding 1 card faceup to the discard pile. If you discard a Special Power card, then perform its special action written on the card. The special powers are:
Cards numbered 1 have the special power called Choice of 3. When discarded, peek at the top 3 cards from the draw pile and choose 1 to keep. Then discard 1 card from your hand.
Cards numbered 2 have the special power called Steal a Card. When discarded, randomly pick a card from another player’s hand. Then give them any card from your hand.
Cards numbered 12 have the special power called Peek a Boo. Look at another player’s hand.
Cards numbers 13 have the special power called Dig it Up. Secretly review the 3 cards directly under this card in the discard pile, and choose 1 to keep. Then discard 1 card from your hand.
If you discard a special power card as part of another special power card’s action, you perform that special power card’s action as well. Special power cards maybe played as spreads, but then they do not have their powered activated, as their powers are only activated when discarded.
There are 3 ways a round can end. The first is called “Nom Nom”. After each player has had at least 2 turns, then, at the start of your turn, before you draw, you can say “Nom Nom” if you think you have the lowest hand value, which is determined by the sum of all the card numbers in your hand. Your turn ends without any further action and now the other players get exactly 1 more turn. During this final turn, all power cards are inactive and have no effect when discarded. Once players complete their final turn, everyone reveals their hands and adds up their hand values. Then points are scored.
Whoever has the lowest hand value gets 1 point. If tied, then all the tied players, except for the Nom Nom announcer, score 1 point. If the nom nom announcer does not have the lowest hand value, or if they tie, then they lose 1 point. You may have a negative score.
The round may also end if the draw pile runs out of cards before a player says “Nom Nom”. If this happens, then the round ends after the last turn finishes. Players reveal their hand values and score in the same way as when a NOM NOM is announced.
And finally, the round may end if a player happens to have zero cards in their hand at the end of their turn. In this case, the round ends immediately, and this player scores 2 points.
Continue playing rounds, with the last round’s winner starting the next round. The first player to earn 3 points wins.
