In this video I'll take you through the really awesome world of reels, and share 4 simple but super effective reel patterns.
Reels are the most popular of traditional Irish dance patterns, and there are many thousands of reel tunes to have fun playing along with; they truly are the mainstay of most traditional Irish music sessions!
Make sure to use headphones for some juicy bodhran sound :)

This is the first episode in a series of informal tutorials where Iâll share with you my approach to playing this instrument so please comment below any suggestions or requests you might have!
Frame drums like the bodhran have popped up in musical cultures all over the world for thousands of years though since the early nineteenth century the bodhran has been an important part of Irish traditional music. Some people believe the bodhran found its name from the Gaelic words for skin and tray combined. Others believe it has derived from the Irish word âbodharâ which means deaf or dull.
