Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. It is sometimes confused with Halloween because of the symbolic skulls but is not really related.
The tradition says that on November 1st the children who have passed come back to visit and celebrate with their family as angels. On November the 2nd, the spirits of the dead love ones visit for the festivities, which include an Altar with photos and their favorite meals.
Some people spend time cooking specific Day of the Dead food and sweets.
There are many ways to celebrate it, with poetry, music, sugar skulls and of course the most known tradition of painting the face like a very stylized Catrina
