This image shouldn't exist... but it does. After a wrist injury threatened my ability to create the artwork I imagined, I turned to AI... not just to make my art for me... but to challenge my thinking. This documentary follows my journey creating a He-Man illustration while exploring AI-assisted art, creativity, copyright, artistic judgment, and where the line between human imagination and artificial intelligence really belongs.
For years I've believed that the most important part of creating art wasn't the software... it was the artist.
Then I tried something that challenged my own assumptions.
Instead of asking AI to create artwork for me, I asked it to critique my artwork.
What followed wasn't what I expected.
This isn't a video about replacing artists.
It's about what happens when an artist uses AI as a creative partner instead of a creative replacement.
Throughout this documentary I explore:
• AI-assisted creativity
• Prompt engineering for artistic critique
• Traditional and digital illustration
• Copyright and ownership
• Creative judgment
• The evolution of a single He-Man painting
• Whether AI can improve an artist... without replacing one
The Prompt That Changed Everything:
"Please commit this to memory. I want you to prioritize substance over compliments to me. Never soften criticism. If an idea of mine has holes, say so directly —"This won't work because X" is better than "Have you considered...". Challenge my assumptions. Point out errors. Useful feedback matters more than comfortable feedback."
