FLOUR TORTILLA RECIPE:
*3 cups flour : I prefer to use a blend of one part freshly milled whole grain and one part unbleached organic all purpose white flour.
*1-2 tsp salt
*2 tsp baking powder
*1/4 cup Organic Palm Shortening
*1/2 cup butter
*1 cup warm water
Optional: 1 Tablespoon organic homemade vinegar of any kind as a natural preservative
Optional Ingredients: 1/4 cup of seeds of choice alone or in a blend: poppy, chia, flax, black seed (kalonji), hemp. Or you can use that same amount in flower petals from dandelions and/or calendula
Fat can be all butter or all palm shortening. I do not recommend a vegetable shortening like Crisco is not a healthy choice of fat.
Blend dry ingredients. Cut in fat. Add hot water. Knead until smooth. Cut dough into 8 pieces. Roll. Pan bake each side for about a minute or until lightly browned. A cast iron griddle is best for this.
For cooking directly on wood stove, make sure temperature is 250 to 300 degrees for best results.
