This video shows you how my family makes good soil, when all we have is rock and clay.
Step 1: We dig a hole and pile the material in one place.
Step 2: We use the tractor to scoop a bucket full from the new pile. (you can manually pick the rock out like we used to do, if you do not have a tractor)
Step 3: Move the tractor so we can dump the bucket on a fresh spot on the ground.
Step 4: Slowly dump the bucket, while the family removes the rock from the new pile, and the bucket.
Step 5: Throw the loose rock into a new pile.
Step 6: Put the loose rock into the tractor bucket, and haul it away from the garden. Then, dump the rock into a neat pile.
Step 7: Repeat this process until you have a new, rock-free pile, and the original pile is gone.
Step 8: Add sand and good soil (from sheep dirt, cow dirt, or soil from a local farm store that sells it) to the new pile, and blend the items together.
Step 9: Back-fill the hold with your new soil.
