You can enable black and white (grayscale) mode on your Android phone using the Digital Wellbeing or Accessibility settings to reduce color distractions or screen strain.
Option 1 — Using Digital Wellbeing (Focus Mode/Grayscale)
Open Settings on your Android device.
Scroll down and tap Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls.
Tap Dashboard or Wind Down (depending on your version).
Enable Bedtime Mode or Wind Down. This often includes Grayscale as an option.
Toggle Grayscale on to make the screen black and white during the scheduled time or immediately.
Option 2 — Using Accessibility Settings
Open Settings.
Scroll to Accessibility.
Tap Visibility enhancements or Color adjustments (may be labeled differently depending on device).
Toggle Grayscale or Color inversion (some devices list grayscale as part of color correction).
The screen will turn to black and white mode immediately.
Option 3 — Developer Options (Permanent Grayscale Mode)
Open Settings.
Tap About phone and repeatedly tap Build number to enable Developer options.
Go back to Settings → System → Developer options.
Scroll to Simulate color space and select Monochromacy.
