Dear friends welcome to the Arduino Light Meter Tutorial! Today we are going to learn how to put build our own project to measure the intensity of the light in an environment. We are going to use an Arduino, the BH1750 sensor, and a Nokia 5110 display. There is a lot to cover so let's get started!
What is illuminance: In photometry, illuminance is the total luminous flux incident on a surface, per unit area. It is a measure of how much the incident light illuminates the surface, wavelength-weighted by the luminosity function to correlate with human brightness perception. Similarly, luminous emittance is the luminous flux per unit area emitted from a surface. Luminous emittance is also known as luminous exitance.
In order to measure illuminance, we use the BH1750 sensor which communicates with the Arduino with the I2C protocol.
