How to make a woven loop shank for handmade buttons. This can be used for fabric buttons, thread buttons such as a deaths head button or a Dorset button. It adds a professional tough to the back of a button and makes sewing on a button so much easier. Sewing a shank at the end of a handmade button also helps to prolong the life of the button.

The technique is similar to a woven picot.
