Gem, one of our stellar gardeners, demonstrates how to make a soil mix with compost, peat moss, vermiculite, lime, and water. We use this mix for all our seedlings and transplanting starts. The plants love it! Learn more: hollyhock.ca/soil-mix

Hollyhock Soil Recipe
- 2 five-gallon buckets of 1 year old shifted compost
- 1 five-gallon bucket of sifted peat moss
- 1/4 cup of dolomite lime to neutralize ph
- 1/2 five-gallon bucket of fine vermiculite (medium vermiculite would also work), wear a mask
- Sprinkle water as needed and mix thoroughly

Note that the use of peat moss and vermiculite has some sustainability concerns, and we are considering alternatives.
