This video shows you how to cover a disc button mould in silk (or other fine) threads, as a base for further decoration, such as needlework or crochet.

This type of covering can be seen on many antique worked buttons - often in a contrasting colour to the decorative work.

There are many different ways to do this; I will add other videos showing alternatives. The method here works very well with either flat discs or those with a slightly domed profile.
