In this very special episode, I show you how to make a free or very cheap 12V DC power supply for your Raspberry Pi Arcade Cabinet or really anything that needs 12V DC. Ultimately, I am showing you that you can re-purpose or reuse old power supplies for other products as long as you match the output to what ever you are powering up. The simple AC/DC converter power supplies are a dime a dozen and are always found in thrift stores for super cheap or in your junk drawer at home. The Xbox 360 power supply is a very common power supply and gives a whooping 16.5 Amps of output power so tons of juice to power up a ton of DIY projects!

I used 2 of the xbox 360 power supplies in my cabinet, one for the control panel (lighted trackball, computer fans) and one inside the cabinet for the coin door and any future lighting, etc.

Remember that when working/testing/installing electrical components, you should have the power off! Electricity can and will kill you if not handled properly. Get help from an experienced person if you do not know how to work with electricity! Generally anything over .5 to 1 Amp can kill you and these power supplies have the potential to create a GAME OVER scenario for you! So be smart and be careful!
