Have a fabric panel sitting in your stash that you LOVE… but have absolutely no idea what to do with it? 🙋♀️ Today we’re turning one into a beautiful quilt!
In this step-by-step quilting tutorial, I’m making the Luminous panel quilt from Fabric Café’s Panel Pizazz book. This pattern uses the easy 3-yard quilt method to turn one fabric panel and coordinating fabrics into a gorgeous finished quilt that looks much more complicated than it actually is!
We’ll work through half-square triangles, scant ¼" seams, chain piecing, trimming quilt blocks, assembling borders, making a quilt sandwich, free-motion quilting, working with Cuddle fabric, and binding the finished quilt. There are lots of great skill-building techniques in this one, making it a fun project for confident beginners or anyone looking for ideas for those fabric panels hiding in their sewing room!
For my quilt, I’m using a floral panel from Moda’s Woodland & Wildflowers collection along with coordinating fabrics for a darker, fall-inspired color palette. For the backing, I used super-soft Cuddle fabric from Shannon Fabrics, and it made this quilt ridiculously snuggly!
