Alexander Arguelles | How to Listen to Audio Books in Foreign Languages for Polyliteracy @ProfASAr | Uploaded May 2022 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Listening to audio books in a foreign language is a wonderful reward to reach as you develop advanced abilities in the language, but there are more, and less, efficient ways of listening. If you move up to listening to extended narratives from listening to didactic materials and shorter podcast type audio, you are probably not getting all that you could from either the content of the book or the linguistic exercise. After comparing and contrasting extensive reading and extensive listening, I discuss how a few common-sense attention-focusing and note-taking habits can help you get much more from listening to audio books. Finally, I discuss various ways of cycling through multiple languages to balance a maintenance program for polyliteracy.

If would like to participate via Zoom in my virtual reading and discussion circles for French, German, Spanish, or Latin literature, or in seminars for discussing Great Books, please fill out the application at alexanderarguelles.com/academy

If you can think of anyone else who might be interested in joining these discussion circles, or who might like support for the self-study of foreign languages, please pass the above information along to them.

If you are particularly interested in Great Books education, please also have a look at onlinegreatbooks.com If you might prefer to do this the way they do it, you can register with my name, ALEXANDER, as a promo code and get a substantial discount for your first three months.

If you are in a position to support my efforts to spread knowledge through these videos, I will gratefully accept any contributions to ko-fi.com/alexanderarguelles
