Movies and TV shows are an AMAZING resource for learning a language! There are so many different ways and methods for getting value from them, but one method that people often don't talk about or discourage is watching that content with subtitles in your native language. Some people even say this is useless.

I disagree that it is useless and you can actually learn quite a lot from using this approach, especially if you are not yet advanced enough to use subtitles in the language you're learning, or certainly understand without subtitles at all.
