In this mixing tutorial, you will learn the basics of layering leads properly in your mix. It will give you an example of how you can go about layering your leads in order to get them to sound fat, wide and poping out of the mix. Layering sounds, and especially lead sounds in a song is very important in modern dance music. There are a few things to keep in mind when layering sounds, so make sure to watch the entire video so that you don't miss anything. If you want to learn how to mix music properly then this video will help you out. Also, make sure to check out my other how to mix videos. Mixing and mastering is one of the most difficult things to get to grips with for beginners, but it doesn't have to be difficult. Simply follow these simple mixing rules, and your mix will sound big, fat, crisp, and clear. That's the ultimate goal of any music producer.
When mixing a song, you have one main goal, and that is to ensure that there's space for all the elements in the mix. Every element in the mix needs to have it's own space int he frequency spectrum, so that it pops out of the mix, without interfering with any other elements in the mix. IF that happens, the song will sound muffled or muddy, and you don't want that.
When layering sounds, don't just pick sounds at random. Try to build your layers based on what frequencies are missing in your mix. That's the best way to get fat-sounding leads. This mixing tip also applies to most other sounds as well when mixing music.
You should always EQ sounds while others are playing as well, not just in solo. I talk more about this in my EQ tutorial.
