About this video: NeoForge originally started as a new version of the Forge mod loader. It has since became the mod loader chosen by some of the best Minecraft mods and modpacks, and this is our complete guide on how to install NeoForge in Minecraft 26.2, so let’s get started!
First things first, we will need to download the NeoForge Installer. There is a link to get NeoForge in the description above that takes you to our complete text guide. On this page, click the "Download" button to go to the official NeoForge download page. From there, select the 26.2 version, and click the "Click Here To Download" button to start downloading the installer.
You'll probably want some mods as well. The most popular places to download NeoForge mods are CurseForge and Modrinth, both linked above. Just make sure you are filtering for the NeoForge mod loader and Minecraft 26.2, as mods for any other mod loader or version won't work. You will also want to check for any dependency mods, because if you are missing one, the mods you add won't work.
Now, we can move on to how to install NeoForge for Minecraft 26.2. To do this, open the "NeoForge Installer" file you downloaded with Java. If you don't have Java, there is a link in the description above to get it. In the installer, click on "Install Client" and confirm the installation. NeoForge will then download and install. The only reason it would fail to install is if Minecraft or the Minecraft Launcher are open, so make sure they are both closed, and make sure you have played the version of Minecraft you are installing NeoForge for.
Once NeoForge installs successfully, open up the Minecraft Launcher and go to the "Installations" tab. You will see your NeoForge installation, so hover over it and click the folder icon that appears. This will open your .minecraft folder, where there will be a "mods" folder. If there isn't, just make one! Drag-and-drop any NeoForge mods you want to install directly into this mods folder. It's that easy.
From there, play Minecraft using your NeoForge installation, and you are good to go. Your mods will be active in-game and working perfectly.
