Same scale shapes as the last video, seen from a different perspective. All the white
keys on the piano, so to speak. What changes is where the root is, and what everything
sounds like against the drone.
This is the one people get wrong the most. In the first video I said students see a
shape starting on F and call it a Lydian shape. It isn't Lydian because of where the
shape starts. It's Lydian because of where the root is and what the drone is doing.
HOW IT WORKS
90 seconds in each position. Do not make this super long. It's better to do this daily
and get it done.
11 positions on a 24 fret guitar.
Drone running the whole way, root note in gold, plus the color notes.
The note that makes this Lydian is the #4. Everything else is a major scale, so that
one note is doing all the work.
A note being marked doesn't mean it's a nice note to land on. It just defines that mode.
You'll hear this and make up your own mind about what notes you like.
Treat each shape like it's its own instrument. Those are the only notes you have. That's
the limitation.
It's not about making an amazing solo. You're exploring the shape.
And believe me, you've got to do the work here.
