Jayda InStitches | How To Hang a Wall Hanging or Curtains - Crochet Hanging Tabs Tutorial @JaydaInStitches | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Let's hang our Wall Hangings! For larger or heavier wall hangings, consider making your Hanging Tabs wider and more of them (details below). Make all your tabs the same number of stitches and rows! If your rod has large fixed finials (knobs) on either end ensure that your tabs will fit over top of them (they may need to be taller - see below).
For Wider Tabs: increase the number of base stitches from 5 anywhere up to 10.
For Taller Tabs: increase the number of rows from 8 to any even number for the required height. Remember they will be folded in half so ensure that your rod fits through it before you seam it shut!
For Stronger Tabs: use single crochet and double the number of rows. For example, we used 8 rows of double crochet in this tutorial, if you want to use single crochet for added strength (and less stretch) make each tab 16 rows tall. For wider single crochet tabs, you can use any base number of stitches you like. Remember to make all tabs identical!
Notes on picking a Rod
Doweling or Curtain Rods should be at least 2.5 cm or 1 inch longer PER SIDE than the final width of your curtain or wall hanging. For example, if the final width of your wall hanging is 20 inches, you want a doweling that is at least 22 inches long (not including finials or knobs). This gives you room to hang the rod on hooks and it looks nice too!
