If you've never grown or eaten a parsnip, you don't know what you're missing! Popular in the UK and all over Europe the parsnip is a root vegetable grown similar to a carrot but with a totally unique and delicious taste! You can get a jump start on growing them in spring by starting your parsnip seeds outdoors in plastic milk jugs using the Winter Sowing method aka Milk Jug Sowing.
Watch as I place the seeds in the milk jug and discuss how many seedlings you can grow in a gallon jug. After sowing seeds, they go out in the cold or snow to hibernate until spring when they burst into gorgeous seedlings ready for transplant for under a penny or so!!
