You only need the following:
-A suitable container (flat walls are better, you can observe the growth better!)
-Copper Sulfate.
-A power supply. 5 volts or less is best! You can even do this with a few batteries in parallel!

I got my power supply at a computer store, it was from an old computer and cost $1. I used 3.3v.
If your having trouble, try decreasing the concentration of the solution, this reduces the amps drawn, and the crystals should grow slower. You can also add things like sulfuric acid to the mix, that works for some people!
