How to get the NEW Monte Carlo Catalyst #shorts. A little while ago we learned about the new Monte Carlo catalyst that was released this season that allows us to use the bayonet on the front of the gun. Specifically At 5 stacks of Markov Chain, your melee attack uses the bayonet, which grants melee energy on hit and does significantly more damage and deactivates after 1 use. Which I'm told is close to rocket launcher level damage in a melee attack.
To get this catalyst, you first need to get the Monte Carlo gun, which is also a reward from a new quest from Ikora this season. This catalyst drops from the playlist activities like Strikes, Gambit, and Crucible. Keeping in mind that there are many playlist catalysts that can drop instead, like the malfeasance catalyst, that you may drop first.
But I know that you're wondering, how good is this bayonet and is it worth it? In general, Monte Carlo is a fantastic gun with great stats as a very comfortable 600 RPM auto rifle. More importantly, it gives you an easy way to get melee energy from kills and damaging targets, while rewarding kills and melee kills with weapon damage. With this bayonet, you can significantly increase that melee damage to maintain that weapon damage bonus while easily charging your melee energy for follow ups. Or stack even more melee damage bonuses to melee based builds with Synthocepts, Wormgod, and Winter’s Guile, but unfortunately, none on Hunter.
