I'm trying to get the classic Mesa guitar tone of the late 1970s and early 1980s. I think a large part of that tone comes from the Altec Lansing 417-8H and 417-8C speakers that were used in those amps. Today I'm playing a 1988 Mesa MkIII with those speakers. I'm using a 2021 Fender Telecaster 1960CS and a 2008 Gibson Les Paul R9 to do it.
The 417-8H Series II is from the late 70s and the 417-8C is from the late sixties.
