In the Pursuit of Happiness
In order to get max happiness/get your Pokemon to love you, you can do quite a few things.
Why would you want to do this? It powers up the move Return, it's easy, it's logical, it helps you get the Footstep Ribbon east of Pastoria.
And probably most important of all, it allows certain Pokemon to evolve, such as Riolu, Togepi, Pichu, and many, many more.
You can also get your Pokemon to HATE you by leaving it fainted, feeding it herbal items, etc., but the only benefit of this to this date is it powers up Frustration, the opposite of Return. That's it.
Two things I DIDN'T get to in the video that I will mention RIGHT NOW is THIS:
You get Poketch App #6 from a girl on the first floor of Eterna City's Pokemon Center.
And
Using items on your Pokemon, like Potion, does NOT increase it's happiness with the EXCEPTION of FRESH WATER, SODA POP, LEMONADE, MOO MOO MILK, and the Vitamins. You can also use the EV/Vitamin lowering berries, but come on, who wants to do that just for happiness? Lots of trouble for something that can be solved quickly.
Also, BOXING A POKEMON DOES NOT REDUCE HAPPINESS IN THIS GAME!!!!!
Soothe Bell is an item you can attach to make it faster, possibly cutting the time in half. Same probably goes for Luxury Ball.
1. Walk with your Pokemon. The slowest, yet easiest and in an essence fastest method of achieving happiness. Put it up front and hop on your bike and go for a stroll. I suggest Solaceon Town. It'll probably take 30,000 - 50,000 steps, but it'll do.
2. Give it massages. Both places are featured in the video.
3. Feed it it's favorite flavor of Poffin
4. Feed it Vitamins
5. You can also take it to Amity Square, but I'd bet that your Pokemon won't be permitted inside.
6. Anything else I feature in the video.
7. Rumored that particpating in Contests helps, but...
Personally, I'd just slap a Soothe bell on the Pokemon I want to max out happiness with, and then hit the trails of either Solaceon or Cycle Road.
When it has 2 hearts, it probably has max happiness. take it to the Footstep man in the beach house east of Pastoria City to earn the Footstep Ribbon.
If your Pokemon evolves by having max happiness, level up afterward and it should evolve.
