To get the Epic Games store, the GOG store and the Amazon games store, on a SteamOS device, so this works for Steam deck and on other consoles that run on SteamOS, like my Lenovo Legion Go S here.
Press the steam button. No matter what console you use, it is the one on the upper left, the one that has a Steam logo next to it. Then go to Power, and select Switch to Desktop. Once there, go to discover, it is this icon right here.
And search for heroic. To do that, press on the search box to select it and then press the steam button and X at the same time, to bring out the keyboard.
Now search for Heroic.
Then click Install.
When done, open the program. You can press here to open it, or if you accidentaly closed the windows, go to Start, and it is under the Games section.
Now you need to log into your account.
Once you are logged in, click on Go to Library.
Now to install a game, select the game and press to install it right here.
It is worth noting that some games will not work. For example Fornite, or Skate. Use anti-cheat software that doesn’s work on SteamOS.
After you install a game, to make it appear in Steam, go to the three dots, and select Add to Steam.
And you can also do this for the launcher itself.
Open Steam in desktop mode, press on Add a Game in the bottom left corner, Add a non-Steam game, click Heroic Game Launcher and then Add Selected Programs.
Now you can return to Gaming Mode, which you can find on your Desktop.
If you go into your Library, and go to your Non-Steam Category, you will see your games and the Heroic Launcher.
If you want to add more games, you can go via this app and add more.
If you press to install but it seems stuck or the game simply doesn’t run. Or once a game had sound, I heard its music in the background but the screen remaied on Heroic, what I’ve noticed works, is to just shut down the console after the game finishes installing and try again later to open the game. That has solved most of my issues when installing games from Epic and GOG. Just shut down, leave the console to rest and then when I returned, the games were working fine.
Also if the game seems stuck on a black screen, just give it time. The fist time you boot might take a while, but subsequent tries will be much faster.
