How to Use Zoom-in Mic to Focus Audio on a Zoomed Subject on Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus and Ultra Now
Learn how to focus audio coming from a zoomed subject while recording video on the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra Camera.
Samsung's Zoom-in Mic feature is designed to increase audio from the direction you zoom toward while recording video. As you zoom in on a distant subject, the feature enhances the sound from that direction, making it easier to hear the selected subject in the recording.
To use this feature, open the Camera app and switch to Video mode. Tap the Quick Controls icon with the four dots, tap Settings, and look under the Audio options for Zoom-in Mic. Turn it on before starting your recording. Samsung specifically lists Zoom-in Mic as an audio option on the Galaxy S26 Camera.
After enabling Zoom-in Mic, point the camera toward the subject you want to record. Start video recording and gradually zoom toward the subject. Samsung explains that the sound from the direction of the zoom can be recorded at a higher volume while recording video.
For better results, use smooth and controlled zoom movements instead of suddenly changing the zoom level. Samsung also provides Smooth Zoom on supported Galaxy devices, allowing you to adjust zoom gradually while recording.
Keep the phone's microphones unobstructed and avoid covering the microphone openings with your fingers or accessories. If you are recording a concert, presentation, sports event, interview, or distant performance, point the camera toward the main sound source and use Zoom-in Mic while zooming.
Remember that Zoom-in Mic does not physically move or focus a microphone toward the subject. It uses audio processing to make sound from the zoomed direction more prominent. Samsung describes the feature as increasing sound as you zoom while filming.
If you want more control over the audio direction, Pro Video mode may provide microphone choices such as Omni, Front, Rear, USB, Bluetooth, or Bluetooth Mix, depending on the device and software version.
If Zoom-in Mic is unavailable, check the selected Camera mode and software version because available camera controls can vary by mode. Also check that another audio feature is not affecting the available options.
Record a short test video before an important recording and compare the audio with Zoom-in Mic enabled and disabled. This helps you determine which setting produces the best result for your environment.
