I am also a watch nerd. And a few years ago I came across this stuff called Polywatch, which is abrasive goop used for buffing scratches out of plastic watch screens. Of course I realised I could try it on old gear screens, and it works really well on scratched plastic gear screens too. For light and medium scratches, it really works (deeper stuff it can't do much for). I'll show you how it works and do a before and after on a VERY scratched example, a beat up Zoom B3 I bought recently.
