Many immersion learners choose to wait to start speaking until they're more comfortable understanding the language -- and there's no denying the results they get.
Waiting to learn to understand to learn the language before speaking is one of the best ways to learn. However, that goes against most conventional language learning methods that use the opposite approach.
So then, when people ask you why you're not speaking early, or try to start giving you advice that goes against what you KNOW works, how do you reply? Do you just nod your head? Or is there a good way to explain your reasoning?
