You can enable emojis on your Samsung keyboard by using the dedicated emoji key, the long-press of the Enter/Space key, or enabling emoji suggestions in the keyboard settings.
Step 1 — Check that Samsung Keyboard is Active
Open any app that involves typing (Messages, WhatsApp, etc.).
Tap on a text input field to bring up the keyboard.
If a different keyboard appears, switch to the Samsung keyboard:
Go to Settings General management Keyboard list and default On-screen keyboard.
Select Samsung Keyboard as the default.
Step 2 — Enable the Emoji Key on Samsung Keyboard
Go to Settings General management Samsung Keyboard settings.
Look for "Keyboard layout and feedback" or "Keyboard toolbar" depending on your device model.
Ensure the Emoji button on keyboard or Keyboard toolbar is enabled.
This adds a visible emoji key (smiley face) on your keyboard. Tapping it opens the emoji panel.
Step 3 — Alternative Access via Long-Press
On many Samsung keyboards, you can long-press the Enter key, Space bar, or the microphone key, and a smiley face emoji panel will appear.
This is useful if you do not see an emoji key enabled by default.
Step 4 — Enable Emoji Suggestions (Optional)
In Samsung Keyboard settings, select Smart typing.
Turn on Predictive text and Suggest emojis.
Now, when you type a word, like "happy" or "laugh," the keyboard will suggest relevant emojis above the keys.
Step 5 — Using Emojis in Apps
Once enabled, tap the emoji key to browse categories like Smileys & People, Animals, Food, Activities, Travel, Symbols, Flags.
Tap the emoji to insert it into your message.
For quick usage, frequently used or recently used emojis appear in a dedicated tab for faster access.
