This easy face drawing tutorial on How to Draw a Face using Tone is designed to show a different approach to drawing a face based around flat areas of tone rather than outlines. I would suggest students watch my video on drawing a face in proportion youtu.be/WROSZ6803cE before attempting this one.
In this video you will learn how to draw and sketch a face by carefully building up layers of tone using a variety of pencils in a step by step approach. I show how eyes and the nose can be suggested rather than outlined which makes for a more pleasing drawing or sketch. You will learn how the hair can be suggested with a few tones and a few lines. You will also learn that by varying the emphasis on line - light or dark lines - you can suggest edges or areas of emphasis rather than making them look too obvious.
