Abbreviation: dtr
These instructions are given in UK terminology. 'Double treble crochet (dtr)' is the same stitch as the American 'triple crochet (trc)'.
Double treble crochet is one of the taller stitches. In this video we will show you how to create a double treble crochet.
STEP-BY-STEP
1) First, make a foundation chain to your required length. Then afterwards make three chains extra.
2) For example, here is a chain of 10 and we need to add 3 more.
3) Next, yarn over twice and then find the 5th chain from the hook.
4) Insert your hook into the 5th chain.
5) Yarn over and then pull through. You will now have 4 loops on your hook.
6) Yarn over again and pull through the first 2 loops. There should be 3 loops on your hook.
7) Yarn over again and pull through the next 2 loops on your hook. There should now be 2 loops left on your hook.
8) Yarn over again and pull through the remaining loops.
9) You will have one loop left on your hook and you have completed the stitch.
10) Continue making the double treble crochet by repeating these steps.
11) To start a new row in double treble crochet, turn your work around (like you would turn a page of a book).
12) Add 4 extra chains, this is your turning chain.
13) Yarn over twice and insert your hook in the first stitch of the row (not your turning chain), also known as the 6th ‘V’ from the hook.
14) Repeat steps 5-9 until you have finished your row.
And that’s how you double treble crochet (dtr)!
