YourSixStudios | How to Disable Steam on Startup & Turn off in Task Manager (Easy Tutorial) @YourSixStudios | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Here are three methods to prevent Steam from opening automatically when your computer starts:
Using Steam Settings:
Open the Steam app and go to “Steam - Settings”.
Uncheck the box that says “Run Steam when my computer starts”.
If you disable this option, Steam will not open during startup, and it won’t appear in your Task Manager, Preferences, or Startup Apps list.
Using Task Manager (Windows):
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Go to the “Startup” or “Startup apps” tab.
Right-click on “Steam” and select “Disable”. This prevents Steam from launching as soon as your computer boots.
Using App Settings (Windows):
Press ⊞ Win + I to open Windows Settings.
Click on “Apps”.
Locate “Steam” in the list, right-click on it, and select “Disable”. This overrides any settings in the Steam client itself
