Judgement the motivation destroyer
Condemnation is the killjoy
We judge ourselves severely
We judge others almost as harshly
But strictly speaking who’s really doing the judging?
Is it really ourselves
Or is it thoughts?
And where are those thoughts coming from?
Demonic principalities in the spirit realm?
Fractured childhoods and overbearing parents?
We claim the thoughts as our own.
They after all are in our heads
So someone has to claim them, or do they?
More helpful I think is to recognize that thoughts arise like clouds from sources unknown
And because they assume our internal voice,
They seem to be ours
But in reality they are shrapnel on the battlefield of spiritual war.
The Christians say judge not lest ye be judged
And yet most of us walk around with minds like judgement cages ricocheting off the walls of our skulls.
Mostly condemning ourselves for not doing enough
Or else if we catch an inspired wave
Then we condemn ourselves for not doing it right.
Or else we turn the barrels of our judgement weapons around towards the world and others and condemn everyone else who is either messing their lives up or even worse we ridicule those that are going for it.
But again is it really us at all?
And think about it
Yes others are judging you just as severely and no matter what you do you can see that those judgements are flying your way too,
Whether you’re making progress or not.
Or to put it another way, there’s no escape
From the Joy kill of judgment,
Unless you really break judgement down and see it for the imposter that it is.
Between you and the life of your dreams is a River of fear with the waters of judgment flowing strongly.
You either jump in and cross it
Or else you are forced to sit sidelined and unwilling to take the plunge.
And in either realities you won’t escape judgement
You might be judged less by others if you make less noise,
If you sit sidelined,
But you won’t escape it entirely even then,
And in that reality the self condemnation will be much worse.
Or else you get motivated and push for your dreams into early failed attempts where yes, some will judge you and maybe those damning thoughts within them,
Will ridicule your attempts to make a dream come true.
They may even externalize those voices and write mean comments,
But if we really see judgement for what it is we can dismantle its power over us.
Demonic principalities
Or spiritual forces of darkness which are motivated to keep us inactive and drifting so that we become easy fodder for corruption and the taking over of our minds and souls.
Fear is the enemy
And judgement is fear’s right hand holding an illusionary sword.
Bob Dylan famously went electric
Much to the chagrin of his folky fans
And received ridicule every where he went
Audiences loudly booing after every song
One fan famously even called him Judas
To which he instantly remarked back
The key for us all to overcoming all voices of judgment
He said back loudly into the microphone
And instantly
“I don’t believe you”
He said it with a snarl that gave us insight into his internal realm
Which gave him the strength to follow his own internal instincts over the disdain from the masses.
I don’t believe you
It’s simple enough
But it also happens to be the key to overcoming this grandiose demon called judgement that isn’t going anywhere, which dominates most and will be there no matter what we do
I don’t believe you
That’s the key and the truth
Because judgment is a liar
It doesn’t take much analysis to see that it will be there whether we do nothing or do everything.
Whether we do a little or a lot.
Whether we step with our right foot first or our left.
Or whether we choose not to step at all.
Only God can judge and as he wants us to be the light of the world,
I doubt he’s judging our sloppy attempts to push towards our purpose,
Which is coming from him in the first place.
The only judgement we should fear is his judgement.
But his judgement isn’t the judgement we are talking about here.
We are talking about the loud judgement coming from the dark side.
Imagine what you would do without any of those dark judgmental forces being present at all.
Imagine if there was no judgement and condemnation coming from the world or your own mind.
Would you ever procrastinate?
Would you ever be afraid to start working on a dream and being really bad at it at first?
Or would you be like a kid playing on a playground
Caught up by the wheels of your own imagination
Spinning with the wheels of creation?
And if you understood that failure was no more than the cover charge to enter the domain of your dreams
Would allow yourself to fail loudly and with glee?
I think we all would.
Judgment keeps us neutered and small
Quiet and demonized
And it’s designed to do that.
