The reason why I use such very high pressure angle gear is that most consumer 3D printer has very low precision, and low pressure angle gear tends to jam. The shape of the gear is far from optimal (not involute etc.), but actually most printer can not reproduce precise gear shape if the gear is small (tooth height ~ 3mm). Helical shape helps the smoothness of the gear rotation much.
