Most tech companies use industrial glue to seal everything tight, completely sacrificing your right to repair just to make manufacturing easier.
At Fairphone, we don’t do glue.
Giving up glue, however, means our design team has to navigate a constant, three-way engineering tug-of-war between a phone’s total size, battery capacity, and water resistance. When we developed the Fairphone (Gen. 6), we decided to double down on the challenge. We set out to decrease the overall size of the device while simultaneously increasing the battery capacity and making the device water-resistant. Crazy, right? We know.
