During the Fall of 2020, my college course on the "Theologies of Gender and Identity" was forced to go virtual. This video is one of the pre-recorded lectures from that course that I would like to share with a larger audience. Feel free to respectfully comment and question and I will respond in kind.
This video is one of a few "creative lectures" that I produced for the course. I always believed that this topic on the weakness of divine command theory works best as a conversation rather than a lecture. Nobody likes to be lectured to and the subjects discussed in this video put into question the methodology of some people's deeply held beliefs. Because of this, a compassionate conversation works better.
The usage of wine in this lecture serves many purposes, including table fellowship. Can you guess others? Bonus to anyone who can identify the shirt I'm wearing and its significance in relation to this topic!
Recommended Reading:
"Misguided Love: Christians and the Rupture of LGBTQI2+ People" by Charles Fensham; Chapters 1-3.
