Deactivate Messenger Account:
Open Facebook in a web browser and log in to your account.
Click on the account menu (the down arrow) in the upper-right corner.
Select Settings & privacy Settings.
Go to Your Facebook Information from the left panel.
Select Deactivation and Deletion.
Choose Deactivate Account, then follow the prompts to confirm.
Note: You can only deactivate Messenger by deactivating your Facebook account. If you do, Messenger will also be deactivated.

Delete Messenger Account:
To delete Messenger, you first need to delete your Facebook account:

Follow the same steps above but select Delete Account under the Deactivation and Deletion options.
