RAIN & LIGHNTNING in After Effects - VFX Tutorial
How to use stock elements from Action VFX to create a rain scene in Adobe After effects.

In this after effects tutorial you will learn how to turn a normal scene into a rainy thunder storm scene with vfx rain, lighting, lightning bolt, storm clouds, weather lights and rain drops on the camera lens.

This tutorial was created using stock elements from Action VFX:
actionvfx.com/?ref=flomotion

For this tutorial I used the Storm Clouds as well as the FREE Lightning pack.

But I am also going to show you how to create most of the effects from scratch and we will only use stock footage and stock elements when we really need it.

Therefore the tutorial will be split in 4 easy to follow parts:
1. Create weather lights
2. create a hero element, in this case a stormcloud with a lightning stroke
3. crate realistic rain
4. add rain drops to your camera lense

In the first part of this tutorial you will learn how to create weather lights in a really easy and simple way. you will learn how to create depth within the clouds with stacking them and using a luma key to put something inside the clouds.
You will learn how to best use and set up stock elements from Action VFX. As a bonus I will show you how to create interactive lighting on the ground with some highlights and the exposure effect and an overall interactive lighting with a glow effect

In the second part we concentrate on creating a main lightning bolt in after effects using the built in advanced lightning effect as well as a stock footage element from Action VFX. you will learn how to combine the elements to make them look as realistic as possible and how to composite them into the footage with color correction and depth of field.

In the 3rd part of this easy to follow tutorial you will learn how to use the rainfall effect in a more random way to create a really realistic way. In this part I will show you how to create highlights in the raindrops for interactive light. And as a last step I will show you how to use the MR Mercury effect to create rain drop that interact with the camera lens. And to make those even more realistic I am going to show you how to make them look like they are a real prism with some chromatic aberration.

We will do all of this in a 32bit float workspace, and I will also quickly explain to you the differences between 8bit 16bit and 32bit float.

As always this tutorial will be filled up with handy tips and tricks, so that it is perfect to watch for beginners as well as professionals.
