EZdrummer 3 can produce drum parts that convince even discerning engineers, but only if you know how to drive it. In this video we build a complete drum part from the ground up, fitting grooves to an existing arrangement and refining them as we go.
Toontrack's EZdrummer 3 ships with over 2,500 individually played grooves and fills across multiple styles and time signatures, seven kits recorded across three rooms at Hansa Studios in Berlin, and a set of composer-friendly tools designed to get you to a believable part fast. We walk through the full workflow: starting with a drum-less song, finding the right groove using the library browser and Tap2Find, then shaping the part inside the Grid Editor with Power Hand and humanisation so the result feels played rather than programmed.
Along the way we cover choosing between the three Hansa rooms for the right character, mixing inside the instrument using the original recording's mic setup, and routing individual kit pieces out to DAW tracks when you want to process externally. Whether you write songs on acoustic guitar, program MIDI for a living, or are moving up from EZdrummer 2 and want to see what the version 3 workflow actually delivers in a real session, this is the end-to-end approach.
The goal is simple: organic virtual drums that sit inside a real arrangement without sounding pasted on.
