Miss Sew shows how to create a welt pocket using the 'Self Welt' method. Rather than having separate welt pieces and separate pocket pieces, the self welt method uses just one piece for the entire pocket bag and welt. A bound pocket (also known as double welt, besom, jetted or piped pocket) can also be created using this same method but forming two lips instead of just one.

The welt pocked is a type of slashed pocket which has one wide 'lip' at the opening.
