No solder pad? No problem: here's how to make one on a Sega Megadrive PCB.

Using a Dremel with a precision conical sanding tip, I carefully grind through the solder mask to expose bare copper trace, creating a brand new connection point where the board never had one. This new pad is what lets us attach the mod chip wire for the switchless region mod.
