This video show shows you how to cook steel cut oats in a thermos. I’m using a 16 ounce thermos stainless steel king food jar, with a quarter cup of steel cut oats and about 8 ounces of water. When you cook, steel cut oats and a thermos, you’ll have to try a few times before you figure out how much water makes it the way you want. Less water makes it thicker, and more makes it thinner. You want to preheat your thermos with boiling water first, and then dump the boiling water out, quickly add your quarter cup of oats, then pour the boiling water in along with any butter or flavorings, and quickly seal it. Then, if you wait about two hours, you’ll have perfect oatmeal when you open it up again.
Here’s where you can buy a 16 ounce Thermos Stainless King insulated food jar like the one in the video.
