Learn how to convert handwritten notes into editable text using Selection mode in Samsung Notes on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
You can select your handwriting using either the Lasso or Rectangle selection tool, convert it to text, edit the result, choose the language and insertion method, copy the converted text, or insert it directly into your note.

Steps
- Open Samsung Notes.
- Open a handwritten note.
- Tap Selection mode.
- Select the handwriting using Lasso or Rectangle.
- Tap the More icon.
- Tap Convert to text.
- Review and edit the converted text.
- Tap Settings.
- Select the language.
- Choose New text box or Body text.
- Tap Done.
- Tap Copy to copy the converted text, or Convert to insert it into the note.

New text box vs Body text
- New text box — inserts the converted text as a separate text box that can be positioned independently.
- Body text — inserts the converted text into the note's regular text area, just like normally typed text.
