The most efficient way to close tabs on an Android phone is to use your browser's tab management screen to swipe individual tabs closed, close all tabs at once, or enable automatic tab grouping depending on your browser.
Chrome Browser
Close a single tab: Tap the tab icon (usually a square with a number) in the top right corner, then swipe the tab you want to close left or right, or tap the X on each tab.
Close all tabs: Open the tab view, tap the three-dot menu, and select Close all tabs.
Auto-close tabs: Go to Settings Privacy and Security Close Tabs, and choose a time limit (after 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days) for tabs to automatically close.
Samsung Internet Browser
Close individually: Tap the tabs icon, then swipe a tab away or tap the X.
Close all tabs: Inside the tab overview, tap the three-dot menu and select Close all tabs.
Tab grouping: Samsung Internet supports tab grouping, which makes closing multiple related tabs easier.
Firefox for Android
Close a single tab: Tap the tabs icon, then swipe a tab to the side or tap the X.
Close all tabs: Open the tab view, tap the three-dot menu, and select Close All Tabs.
Auto-clear tabs: Firefox lets you adjust settings to clear private browsing tabs upon exit.
Tips for Efficiency
Swipe gestures are usually quicker than tapping X for individual tabs.
Use “Close all tabs” if you have many open tabs and need to start fresh.
Enable automatic tab closure in settings to reduce manual cleanup.
Pin important tabs (in Chrome) to prevent accidental closure while managing multiple tabs.
