How to clip your hens wings
Clipping wings stops hens from flying. This isn't always necessary in some of the heavy breeds like Brahmas and Cochins. Or for some of the smaller non flying breeds like Silkies. However, there are other breeds more prone to being good flyers like Legbars, Araucanas, Hybrids etc.

By trimming one wing, it stops the hens from flying (and escaping!). It is worth considering that it is also sometimes helpful for the hens to be able to fly, like when a predator may come into the garden, they may try to fly up in a tree.

Clipping a wing is painless, you will need to hold your hen, or ask someone to hold them for you. Then find a pair of sharp kitchen scissors. Watch and follow along..
